During our scooter trip around the island of Bali, we stopped in several villages for a few nights at a time. We stopped to see a few sights to break up the riding, we were sometimes doing 3 hours at a time. I know that does not sound like a lot but on a scooter it was.
One of our stops was the Gothic Cathelic Church just out side of Jalan Taman Wana called the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. We had not seem many catholic churches in Bali and it came up on TripAdvisor as a cool spot to stop and strech the legs so we took this detour. It was a very alluring and drew you in as you walked towards the steps, for a country that is mainly Buddist and Hindu I believe the uniquness of the church was enough for us. Due to covid rules we were not alowed inside but we did spend some time walking the grounds outside and the looking at all the different statues.

Another fun detour we made was to the Banjar Holy Hot Spring, which is suppose to be a sacaride place or holy place just like the temples. There were people wearing their bikinis and swim shorts, however all the locals were fully covered swimming the waters. These pools have a high sulfur content and are a high temperature (36 C) which is prefect to help with the healing process from injuries.
Personally the green tint of the water turned me off swimming in the water, so I sat on the edge with my feet in the water while Josie, Ruben and Ryan swam around a bit.

Before we finished off our time in Bali in Denpasar for 3 days before Ryan and I flew home, we all stopped for 3 days as a group in Canggu known for it's beaches and strong surf. Ryan and I spent an additional 2 days in Canggu while Josie and Ruben went back to Amend to pack and take care of a few things. Canggu is beautiful, but it is starting to go into southern Bali which means it starts to get touristy. We found higher prices along with more western food and shops. Because this area is known for surfing Ryan and Ruben had to give it try, Josie and I sat on the beach (and laughed).

Canggu was a great spot to stay and just recharge and relaxe on the beach. If you are looking for a spot a little less touristy than Kuta (it is just north west of North Kuta) it is very charming.
Cheers!
